We need to talk about Marion…

Houston, we have a problem. I’ve been away for three days attending to my sick father and in that time, my 18-year-old son who has the sleuthing skills of Sherlock, Inspector Morse and a bloodhound combined, has been through my browser history, discovered my blog and read every single post. *Waves* Hello George, I know you’re reading this. Why don’t you go and empty the dishwasher instead?

“We need to talk about Marion” was the first thing he said when I came through the door.

“Not now”, I said. “I’ve hardly slept. Why don’t you concentrate on your own life. Have you found a job yet?”

According to my son, whose life-experience thus far spans kindergarten, primary school and a secondary school for children with learning difficulties, I am a vulnerable woman with a stress problem and Marion is taking advantage of me.

“Marion’s helping me, that’s all I’ve got to say on the matter,” I told him. I walked off to unpack my bags, but he followed me. Then I went to the toilet and he shouted at me through the door.

Anyhow, the upshot is, he reckons he is going to report Marion to the British Psychological Society. Good luck with that. If he’d done his research he’d know that anyone can call themselves a ‘therapist’. They don’t need degrees or training or even any experience.

It’s impossible to explain to my son that I chose Marion as my spiritual mentor because she has something I want. An inner-calm that was hard won through years of soul searching, spiritual practice and working with Brandon Bays, the American woman who came up with The Journey process to cure herself of a tumour. Brandon created a safe space in which Marion could trawl through the murky depths of her psyche, sift through the shit and put her life back together in a more meaningful way.

Now she will tell anyone who’ll listen that she is living her fantasy life. She is passionate about her work,  her husband and the beautiful home she manifested with a little help from the universe.

Needless to say, I don’t have to explain myself to my son or anyone else. I have chosen to work with Marion, end of. Even though I am feeling a little turbulent right now, I happen to think it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made in a long while.
